Release is inspired by the process of dehiscence, when a plant’s seed capsule splits open to release its contents. The piece includes a woven paper hull and 14 organ-like pods made from shaped wire, sausage casings and filled with roving wool.
The entire piece when hung on the wall is around 8 feet long. The relief off the wall is around 7 inches and the pods are hung 3 to 8 feet high from the floor. The woven paper is 3.5 foot square and each pod. is around 7 inches long, 4 inches wide.
