Moult
2020
Skin, exoskeletons, hair - organic materials get shed throughout an organisms life cycle. Moult especially recognizes how exoskeletons can hold their shape long after the living creature leaves it behind. The crinkling of the paper creates scars that hold memories of the process. Each piece is made with mulberry paper that is infused with encaustic wax. The paper is then shaped, folded, sometimes sewn to mimic natural forms, both plant and animal.
