The exhibit “Strata” was conceived of by Duluth Art Institute’s exhibition curator, Amy Varsek, with the aim of bringing together 4 artists that look at how layers can both conceal and reveal ideas, design, color, objects and process. Along with my piece, Fade, works by Natalie Salminen Rude, Juliane Shibata and Russell Prather were on view. Fade is a continuation of my approach of overlapping human and nonhuman worlds and working with familiar materials, such as mulberry paper infused with wax, embroidery thread, Pictorico inkjet transparency and hat pins.
