Catalog
(2024)
As a personal curiosity cabinet, Catalog is both a collection and reflection. On view are various artifacts my family and I have accumulated over the past two decades. Alongside the found plant and animal remains are artworks in progress and stand alone pieces. These relics hold memories and begin to illustrate the continuous back and forth between subject and object, inspiration and output, science and art.
As with many installations within this body of work, the layout of Catalog changes for different venues. At the Douglas County Historical Museum in Superior, WI, the different elements (both artwork and remains) were dispersed alongside other artworks and historical artifacts. The different components also change over time when organic materials dissolve or the art evolves.
